Abstract: | : | The presentation explores the role of wireless Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communications in enabling and enhancing cooperativeness in autonomous systems, with a focus on Connected Automated Vehicles (CAVs) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). The presentation delves into the European Telecommunication Standard Institute (ETSI) communications architecture, examining both the Facilities layer, which generates crucial messages for improving safety and efficiency, and the Access layer, which handles message transmission using technologies like IEEE 802.11p (DSRC/ITS-G5) and Cellular V2X (LTE and 5G NR). Key concepts such as cooperative perception and congestion control mechanisms are analyzed, emphasizing their impact on system performance and scalability using IEEE 802.11p. The presentation introduces novel approaches to address challenges in these areas, including proposed adaptive cooperative perception algorithms for improved performance and an analysis on congestion control mechanisms. It then delves into Cellular V2X, providing a detailed analysis on decentralized resource allocation algorithm in 5G NR V2X.The presentation also covers the application of V2X principles to UAV systems, introducing the concept of cooperativeness service for automated landing in UAVs. Throughout, the presentation highlights the alignment of this research with ongoing standardization efforts and outline future research directions, including the integration of machine learning techniques and the development of more robust, efficient communication systems for next-generation autonomous vehicles and drones.
