Abstract: | : | Flow-based Microfluidic Biochips are devices that contain etched micro-channels and micro-valves, which can be manipulated to form miniaturized pump, mixers, filters etc. These devices are used to conduct bio-chemical reactions in the micro-scale, thus enabling faster, more reliable, lesser-reagent reactions. Microfluidic devices are going to be used in many critical applications including medical research, individualized healthcare, epidemic diagnosis, genetic research, defence etc. Due to the extremely critical nature of usage of these devices, efficient techniques for fault-tolerance and fault diagnosis for these devices are crucial. In this talk, we present our contributions to Fault Diagnosis and Fault Tolerance of flow-based microfluidic biochips. We have proposed a pseudo-exhaustive search methodology for fault diagnosis, that can achieve the result with minimal computational complexity. The proposed approach has been proved to be better than the currently existing techniques, both in terms of time and space complexity. We have verified our technique, with both real-life and synthetic benchmarks. |
